Anxiety: Your Unexpected Ally in Self-Discovery

Anxiety is a general state of physical, mental, and emotional discomfort. It is a state of fear, uneasiness, anguish, and confusion. It´s a feeling of being disconnected from yourself. It´s a wave of emotions and sensations that are overwhelming

For many years, I thought and saw anxiety as “the enemy.” But today, this relationship has changed. For me, anxiety is not an emotion; it is a state we enter where there are different emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations.

Anxiety is the consequence of living with a lot of unchanneled, accumulated, and repressed stress in your life. When anxiety appears, it gives you a warning from your body and your inner self that you need to make a stop and generate some changes to feel better.

As a therapist, I don't believe that anxiety is a disease or an incurable disorder. It may be a disease because your body is not functioning correctly. From its etymological root (dis-order), the word disorder means that you are going on the incorrect order of things. So, that means the disorder transforms when you move in the correct order.

But what does this mean? It means moving and acting according to your true self, your essence, and your nature. The right order is when you take responsibility for yourself and live in the present instead of anticipating the future or obsessing about the past.

When anxiety is present, our thoughts go constantly to the future, especially to fantasies and imaginary recreations that are not pleasant. We are rarely in the present moment; most of the time, we are thinking about what we are about to do, where we are going, what is going, or what will happen the next day.

It is a way in which your body communicates with you and tells you its needs, for example, to relax, to rest, to relieve tension... It is something that, however horrible it may feel, at the end of the day, will teach you precisely the way to live and enjoy your existence as you want to live it, setting limits for others, feeling your priority, loving out of love and not out of necessity... It is a sign that you have lost the balance within yourself and that it is time to recover it.

So yes, I am sure that you can live without anxiety despite your circumstances, genetics, or experiences. If you change your interpretation of things and work on what you can improve in your life...you will be on the other side of the road.

A fundamental part of anxiety recovery is learning to take care of yourself in every way. Therapy is a great way to connect with yourself, if you are ready to start this process, I am prepared to accompany you.
